About my practice
MYO Pain Relief Center specializes in a unique and highly effective non-surgical, non-drug approach to the relief of chronic and acute pain and dysfunction in the muscles and soft tissues called myofascial trigger point therapy. By identifying and treating underlying causes of muscular pain and by teaching self-care techniques, we help patients achieve pain relief and prevent recurrence. We treat a wide range of patients including those with fibromyalgia as well as athletes, musicians, etc. Located in Chicago, Illinois
More details about my practice
Ms. Sauer is an expert at treating all kinds of chronic and acute soft-tissue pain, including chronic headaches, back pain, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, repetitive motion syndromes (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow), fibromyalgia, complicated regional myofascial pain syndrome and more. She has made significant contributions to the field of myofascial trigger point therapy, most notably the incorporation of self-care training into the treatment protocols of 60 categories of myofascial pain and dysfunction. She was a featured speaker at the 1995 Annual Convention of the American Academy of Pain Management and has presented to many groups both locally and nationally on the application of MTPT to soft tissue pain and dysfunction. In 2004, Sharon co-chaired the Annual Convention of the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists. She has been interviewed by the Canadian National Broadcasting Company and Aware Talk Radio and was the subject of a profile on Chicago Fox News (TV) in September of 2004.
Ms. Sauer has had the privilege of working with some the most reputable physicians in the field of myofascial pain syndromes including Andrew A. Fischer, M.D., Ph.D. and Janet Travell, M.D. whom she assisted with a number of workshops in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Her mission is to spread knowledge of the Travell/Simons/Fischer trigger point therapy techniques to all therapists and patients who can benefit from them.
