Vanessa Sifontes

Vanessa is a speech language pathologist that began her career in oncology after completing specialized training in cases involving voice restoration and rehabilitation after total laryngectomy in 2009. Most of her one-on-one contact with patients was alongside Dr. Ron J. Karni, MD, who serves as Chief of the Division of Head and Neck, Surgical Oncology, in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery at UT Physicians in Houston, TX. There, Vanessa led the organization and facilitation of program growth within the Outpatient Speech Language Pathology team across eight outpatient sites and teams. In addition, she worked in program development to craft measurable key performance indicators that, at the time, not only benefited the patient, but the program as a whole. In summer of 2017, she moved to Denver, Colorado and began working with Oncology Rehab as the Clinical Coordinator of Head and Neck Cancer Program. Since, she has joined PORi (Physiological Oncology Rehabilitation Institute) in an effort to provide state of the art continuing education that focuses on patient based learning lead by research, as well as evidence based practice. As a PORi Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist, Vanessa is dedicated to serving her community and expanding knowledge across the US.
